from
General PTA Meeting
March 11, 2009
The meeting was
opened by Ms. Dollinger with a prayer.
Frank Zilinek/
PTA President
Frank thanked all
the volunteers who participated in Catholic School’s Week. He especially thanked Patty Schmucker and
Terese Thompson for their work on the Family Appreciation Dinner. Frank said that he had never seen the school
hall so packed!
All For the
Girl’s Night
Frank thanked Donna
Burkhardt for all her hard work. He
also thanked Valarie Sorensen and her kitchen crew. Once again, the hall was packed for this event!
Bowling Night
Frank thanked Linda
and Bob Poserina for chairing this event.
About the same number of people turned out for this as last time, but it
seemed to be a different crowd.
Everyone had a good time.
Treasurer’s
Report –
given by Frank
Girl’s Night - $4,210.
Bowling Night - $180. (Even though, this event is not considered a
fundraiser, we still made a small profit due to the break the bowling alley
gives us.
Total – Just shy of $20,000 with two of
our biggest events yet to come: 1 in 40 and the Shark Shoot Out Golf
Tournament.
Family Game Night
– this
Friday! Bring a game. WE ARE FEEDING YOU! Pizza will be available. Sign-up sheets are available tonight at the
front table.
There are a few
calendar changes to note:
·
The
Father/ Daughter Dance has been changed from March to April 25th due to the
tiling of the Church floor, and Mass being held in the school hall for several
weeks.
·
There
will NOT be an April General Meeting next month. A CAP meeting will be held on April 1st for
Kindergarten, 4th, and
7th grade parents as well as anyone who needs to be “capped.” (Secretary’s
Note: Anyone who wishes to volunteer
at the school needs to attend a CAP meeting.)
Next General
Meeting is Wednesday, May 6th.
There will be a
Board Meeting on Wednesday, March 18th at 6:30pm. All are welcome to attend. You do not need to be a board member.
Ms. Dollinger showed us 3 large photos of
the students honoring the servicemen and women during Catholic School’s
Week. She thanked Kathy Lafferty for
taking the photo and Dawn Austin for her work on the graphics. They made our hall look beautiful. The first
one was going to Brandi and Sean Glynn who are two soldiers that the 7th
grade has adopted. The second one was
going to Mike Andrechuck.* Mike is a local, serviceman from Cape May who
recently lost his leg. The third will
be displayed in the school. It was
asked if smaller versions would be available for purchase, and Ms. Dollinger
said she would have to look into it.
The meeting then adjourned to the talk by
Keith Young, a New Jersey State Policeman, on cyber safety.
*The Secretary
regrets that she may not have the correct spelling of the Cape May serviceman’s
name.
